For many, Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) such as IVF provides hope — but the process of egg and embryo freezing through vitrification is technically demanding and depends heavily on the skill of individual embryologists. Recognising the limits of current methods, MedTech innovator Allison Love is reimagining the future of fertility preservation.
From engineering excellence to life-changing innovation
Allison began her career as a mechanical engineer and has over 20 years of experience in medical device product development. She has worked extensively in the ART industry as Director of Product Development at Genea Biomedx and Chief Engineer at Fertilis, bringing deep expertise in delivering innovative solutions to regulated global markets.
Her motivation, though, is personal.

Solving a 30-year-old problem with advanced technology
The status quo in vitrification relies on dated technology — basic tools like petri dishes that require embryologists to fish around for fragile cells, a process full of variability and inefficiency. Competitors attempting automation have seen limited market success because they fail to address key user needs.
Allison’s approach is both simple and groundbreaking: a custom-designed IVF dish, built using advanced nanoscale 3D printing technology (2PP), that eliminates manual handling and operator dependency. She has already proven the model — a previous custom IVF dish she developed for a fertilisation technique called ICSI delivered a 56% improvement in embryo development in animal testing.

Specialising in MedTech and targeting fertility preservation within ART, Allison is using nanoscale 3D printing for rapid prototyping and iteration — rethinking a decades-old problem with a simple yet groundbreaking product.
From concept to commercialisation
Allison’s extensive industry network is a key asset. By collaborating with Australian IVF experts and leveraging specialist suppliers such as the Melbourne Centre for Nanofabrication and Planet Innovation, she plans to fully develop, test and manufacture her product in compliance with global regulations. Her ability to assemble experts across scientific research, engineering, clinical practice and operations means both the technical challenges and the global rollout are covered.
